Let’s come together to mark the beginning of a new year filled with hopes, prosperity, and happiness. Join us for a vibrant celebration with traditional rituals, cultural performances, and, of course, delicious festive food!
Date: 11.04.2025
Time: 12:00 AM
Venue: Bürgerhaus, Schanzenstraße 8, 63457 Hanau
Dress Code: Traditional attire to make the occasion even more special!
Preparation of Ugadi Pachadi: One of the most important traditions during Ugadi is the preparation of Ugadi Pachadi, a dish made from six key ingredients symbolizing different experiences of life:
Neem flowers (bitter) symbolize sorrow.
Jaggery (sweet) symbolizes happiness.
Tamarind (sour) symbolizes challenges.
Chili (spicy) symbolizes anger.
Salt symbolizes fear.
Raw mango symbolizes new beginnings. The combination of these ingredients is symbolic of the varied experiences that life brings.
Cultural Celebrations:
The Telugu new year is announced by reading out a live traditional almanac (called "Panchangam"), with cultural activities, including traditional dance, music, and storytelling.
Ugadi is not just a day of celebration but also an occasion for people to reflect on the past year, cherish their experiences, and embrace the future with hope and optimism.
We look forward to celebrating with you all!
Warm regards,
German Telugu Association (GeTA)
